I think even 04 and up also dint have one, but you could buy one and retro fit it. Never understood why the f150 didnt have one.

It actually does stink but not like a circus. I can't pin it down yet. Damn driving this thing makes me miss my truck already

#Crystal@Ford Service. I have had my 2013 F150 into the dealer twice already for this "Band-Aid" type odor that a lot of you have been experiencing. This same issue was present in my 2102 F150 ecoboost as well and at around the same mileage. At this stage it appears more likely that it is some type of material that was used and is subject to breaking down and causing an odor. My cousin is a master Ford mechanic in Schenectady, NY and he has been the one working on my vehicle. Thus far he has followed Ford engineering advice to deodorize the system. This has only masked the problem as it has returned with a vengeance. He noted the smell on the blower motor and replaced it, so it is definitely something from the blower motor back to the plenum and beyond. The odor came back after the blower was replaced. No leakage noted inside the engine. In my case it is present when I turn on the air conditioning, heat. Lasts for about 15-20 seconds. Engine does not have to be on. Was away for a week and when I came back and started the truck the odor was very strong. So, when it sits the odor becomes worse. My biggest concern is "what is the smell and is it harmful". Ford Motor Company needs to seriously move on this issue and not keep pawning everything off to the Ford Dealerships. There is enough information on this forum alone to safely say that there is an issue with the majority of us noting the same symptoms. I am going to contact my Ford Dealer again this week as my service ticket was left open from the previous fix attempt. If anyone can find the issue it will be my cousin! I shall keep you all posted on this one. Update: Just received a FB message from one of the service writers at my Ford Dealer. She noted that two other customers had the same odor and they replaced the blower motor. As noted mine was also replaced; however, the odor is still present. Not sure if it is just a residual odor that needs to clear up...

Hi Mike Hilton,

Send me your information in a private message (PM) so I can look into this. In your message, be sure to include your full name, best daytime phone number, VIN, mileage, and servicing dealership.

Those of you who are also experiencing this concern and have already been to the dealer, shoot me a PM with the same info listed above.

Crystal

Great news guys, my truck is done and completely smell free. When I picked it up it was odor free, so I left the heater/ac off on my 1/2 hour drive home. I parked it for 2 hours and went back out and no smell at all. Usually it would smell by that time. I'm so glad I have an awesome dealer to go thru. The service receipt I got says there was refrigerant from the evaporator leaking thru the plenum weep hole. They removed the dash assembly replaced evaporator and performed leak down test on ac system, which previously failed, now passed. Part number they replaced was DL3Z-19850-D. Hope this helps

Thanks JFro50! Hopefully it IS indeed completely fixed for you! I also noticed the "Farm-(kinda)- Band Aid" smell just recently myself & just started this spring too. (I know have 16,000 miles on it now). It does go away after 5 minutes, but can be rather rank smelling... and that's the last thing I want my interior to start "absorbing" this permanently. This IS indeed a recent issue & never had this smell last year.
I will contact my dealer tomorrow and I'm curious to see what they already know...if anything at all yet, and I will see what they say & hopefully get it resolved myself. I have to admit they are real good to me & know the service advisor well.
There have been A LOT of the same complaints on here, so I think this is just NOT an isolated problem.
They need to fix this... and when we spend our hard earned money on our trucks ($25K-$50k depending on model)...well...simply put... We expect them (Ford) to take care of it.
Hopefully Crystal can find more info too!... especially if you indeed found the solution to the problem! Good job brother & hope this is the solution!

I would like to know if JFro50 issue is a long term fix. My truck after sitting for some and turning on the blower for smells like a barn for about the first 15 to 20 seconds of operation. It's not 1st world problem but it most certainly is annoying.
