Jeez.
That is terrible! I had mine down first week so I knew it would come down. It is brand new tire.

I'd be raising hell at the dealership in person if I was you.

I have never heard of people stealing spares. That's crazy. Damn thieves.

Man, it takes some time to winch the spare down. Where in the world were you parked that somebody was willing spend that much time at the back of your truck and not be worried about being noticed?

The dealership. They even had the nads to replace mine with a used one.

Easy money, or they wanted a new tire for their own.

Default 2013 Fx4 unused spare stolen

Mine was stolen last night at my hotel. Apparently it was stolen in under 5 minutes. The lock was flipped open but undamaged. The hotel personnel saw it happen, and didn't tell me til after. The cameras were no help because they apparently don't record. Wtf!? Do they have cameras for then!? The cops didn't even care. I guess there's not much to do about it I guess. The only thing that bothers me is I'm over 1000 miles from home with my family and in case something happens that spare would've come in handy.

That sucks. I haven't heard of this, but good info to have. I could probably take my spare off my vehicles though. For the last 15 years I have carried plug kits and a compressor in each of my vehicles. In that same time the 2 flats I have ever had I simply plugged and topped off the tire faster than I could probably have gotten the jack out even. Much easier.

I don't think it's new. One of the first things my dad did when he bought his brand new '70 F-100 was put the spare in the bed and lock it up with a heavy chain.

I do the same, but my flats always seem to be punctures in/next to the sidewall where they can't be plugged.

And that spare tire is daggone heavy...

I am sure that will happen eventually, but I have been so blessed this far with have few and always an easy one. I don't crawl a lot of rocks though either. Most of my off roading is for hunting and mud and muck.

I know this wasn't a Ford truck this happened to but years ago now, on the first Chevy truck we owned, my spouse drove it to Houston to attend a work related seminar. Once the seminar was over, low and behold our spare tire was missing off our truck, as the cable attached to tire underneath the truck had been cut. The kicker was there was supposedly a security guard protrolling the parking lot 24/7. Anyways, a thief will do whatever it takes to get what he or she wants to take from you no matter where your vehicle may or may not be parked.
