End rant.

Sorry for the language. Those of you out there that have had this problem since day one understand my frustration!

i for one am not offended!!!

i've got a 2010 screw 4x4 5.4L, and the more i read on this thread... the more i think about NOT trading it off.

i'm pretty sure there's weak points for the 2010's... but i don't know them.

He told me they have access to some internal forums and he wanted to chat with some other Ford mechanics and see if anyone has heard of this issue. About 2 hours later I get a call back that they have ordered a new rack... which leads me to believe he talked to Ford or another mechanic who confirmed the issue.

Bad news is the rack is on backorder (which also leadso me to believe this issue is very prominent) and they have no ETA as to when I should expect to have one.

Any suggestions on how I can get this expedited?
I had to wait about 3 weeks for my rack, but the dealer ordered 2, so.... Good luck I have about 300 miles on the new one. It's starting to get a grainy type feeling which in the past has indicated the start of a failure.

Well the popping is gone for now. I must say I thought I would notice the steering to be tighter like others have said and it's not what I thought. I just have a bad feeling that this will happen again. After I put some miles on it I will keep posting updates.

interesting... you have a rack that came out of the early 2011s. this isn't necessarily a bad thing. i have friends that have the early 2011s that don't have the problem that most have. i was told that ford always sends the latest part number from my dealer, who doesn't know what they are talking about (btw). the latest part numbers are CL3Z3504BE. the BL3Z3504FE was updated/modified and rolled to the CL3Z3504BE part number.

My Original rack
* BL3Z3504FE
Replacement on Feb 16th, 2012
* CL3Z3504BE
Replacement on March 14th, 2012
* CL3Z3504BE

let us know how this works our for you.

I bought my KR 4x4 Jan 19, 2012. It was built at the Kansas City plant Jan 9, 2012. 5 months and 4800 miles later and after much frustration I took it in to be looked at. Since then I have driven a 2010 F-150 w/26,000 miles, a 2011 F-150 V6 ecoboost with 28,000 miles, and here are my observations: Bump shift coming to a stop, rough down shifts 2-1, skips SECOND GEAR when downshifting, metallic click from driveline going drive to reverse and park to drive. 6R80 six speed tranny/drive line, FLAWED. Popping feel in the steering wheel, Electric Power Assist Steering Flawed. Number of weeks my NEW KR 4x4 F-150 has been worked on to solve these issues; 2-3 weeks and growing. Gentlemen, if you own a 2011-2012 F150 and do not have an hydraulic steering system, BE WARNED. EPAS is DEFECTIVE. The 2010 F-150 steering was solid. (The gear selector is mounted on the steering column not the floor.) This must be the last year that the HYDRAULIC POWER STEERING is being used. Why did you CHANGE IT FORD????? To revive poor full-size truck sales?? To Improve fuel economy??? Good try, BACK TO THE DRAWING BOARD FORD.
