except that the raptor is a much larger and stronger hydraulic unit. I have converted my front end to the raptor suspension and body work. the weak link seems now to be the rack, which is apparently smaller, weak, and electronic on the normal f-150's, according to you, and beefy & Hydraulic on the Raptor.

bummer

thanks

When the Eco first came out one of the 4x4 mags did a build with an actual hydraulic cylinder for the steering to replace the electric rack. Still believe it used an electric pump.

Winter almost over. Time for my steering to start acting up again. Knock knock. Who's there? You're Ford F-150 EPAS. Had lower steering shaft and upper grommet replaced in 2014 on 2012 F150. Didn't fix problem. Just decided to live with it. Something shady going on though. Ford dealership says they call into the help line or what ever they call it and they say issue has never been reported. That is total BS when you get on the Internet and search the problem. And these Ford service people that post on here are no help at all. All posting and no action. Just a buffer for Ford. I love my truck but hate it when summer rolls around because the knock in the steering wheel drives me crazy.

Are you on a leveling kit? And are you in KY? Assuming from your user name

never heard it in mine till this weekend. almost 57k up a rutted out path to a campground, rutted and rocked out.

it popped a ton when going up the hill. never heard it before, and haven't heard it since. like a bup-bup-bup-bup, very quickly (5-6 times a second) until I got to the top.

does this seem to be what's described here?

Safety pin. Yours seems to be a different issue. The issue I have and the one most have in this thread is a feel in the steering wheel and not really a sound. For me, when it is over hot weather I can feel it in the bottom of steering wheel. I can feel it going straight down a smooth surface when There are the smallest of noticeable cracks in the road. Again, something I have tried to learn to live with since Ford chooses to deny this is happening.
