Is the NHTSA even applicable for me as I live in Canada.
Some members are experiencing the EPAS clunk or rattle even in colder temps, so you are not alone. The dealer may give you some grief over the leveling kit, but hope not. If the battery was not disconnected when the front end parts were changed out, the installer could may well have caused damage to the EPAS. In regards to NHTSA, if the Truck was built in the U.S. then the claim would be valid. It only takes a few minutes to file online, so I'd say do it and let them decide. I hope all goes well for you at the dealer, and that they overlook the leveling kit.

Truck is about to fall apart it seems. I took it to the shop that put on the leveling kit and they went through the suspension and all with no problems. Now I have an appointment with the dealer on Tues.

Please take a look at the video and let me know if this is what you all are experiencing. Again it drives perfect on pavement, only bumps is where I have issues. Oh and sorry for the sideways video, dunno how to fix that.

Hey, had the same noise in my 2012 f150 Eco super crew this winter. It turned out to be the lack of front mud flaps allowing the buildup of ice in the rockers and front door area. Take the truck to the mall and park it underground and allow it all to melt off, the noise will be gone. I installed front and rear weathertech no drill mud flaps and the noise hasn't happened again!Had the rack issue on my truck tho and that was fixed at 9000kms and hasn't returned at 16500kms yet. Rack replaced blah blah blah like everyone else here luckily the first replacement rack fixed it. I was getting cupped front tires and non driver induced steering response with mine tho....scary ****.

Hi all, just an update on my 2012 F150 Eco Lariat SCREW at 25,000 km's (15625 Miles).
Just drove from Toronto Ont to Virginia Beach and stop over in Washington DC on way back during the 1st week this January. As I have previoulsy posted before, I
never ever had the steering knock since new. Trip was great, drove nice in all conditions. Just wondering what percentage of all F150's sold from 2011 on have this problem. Am I one of a few the do not have this problem or one of many that do not have this problem. I had a 2005 Nissan Pathfinder with weird problems and I was relentless in trying to get it fixed. One which was front end alignment that took over 4 years to get it done right! Dealing with this manufacturer was like talking to a dead tree.
So, keep up the fight and report it everywhere until your issues get resolved.
http://www.mycarstats.com/reports/fo...omplaints.aspx has only "2" complaints on this issue and the 2011 F150 has only 18 complaints. There is a link in this site to complain to NHTSA. You need to log in as a member (free).
There is strength in numbers, but I don't see the numbers in strength at this site. The more exposure, the more serious it may be taken.
Knock on wood, I don't have this problem.
Keep up the fight... but more!

Well, I'm in the same boat too. 2011 Screw, eco, 17k miles. been clunking and rattling throught the steering wheel for a while now (5k miles). It finally started bothering me enough to take it to the dealer. Keep in mind my truck has a HBS 2" level kit. Long and short, the dealer replaced a drivers side tie rod and strut- which fixed nothing. They now want to go to Ford Engineering but cant b/c of the level kit. SO, I will be removing the level kit this weekend and back to the dealer it go's on monday so they can investigate further. I'm guessing this truck will be getting traded if they cant fix it. In my 18 months of ownership its been to the dealer 5 different times for a total of 38 days. I've never owned a GMC but I might if Ford cant fix this thing! Grrrr

not to sounds like a *****, but you're wasting your time and so is your dealer. ford knows about the problem.

my dealer spilled the beans and told me they have been talking with a ford engineer.

So you are saying they cant fix it? Yes, I've read every page to this thread, but I was hopeful that they would find a fix. From what I understand, when the techs get to the end of thier rope and its still not fixed, they call a ford engineer. thats where I'm at....

They haven't fixed mine with three replacements. Total of 4 steering gears including the one that was original to the truck.

Update- so I just removed my HBS alum leveling blocks and the truck still clunks. Will be taking it back to the dealer so they can continue to trouble shoot.
