Have the stock setup in my 2011 XLT and looking for ideas to upgrade my front speakers, rear speakers install a sub and amp on a "budget".

Pics would be great too. Any recommendations. Listen to mostly rock.

What type of budget are we talking? Tons of options out there.

I just got done doing a setup in my 12 xlt and while it was prob more then what some would spend but far less then others.

You can replace just the door speakers, get a couple subs, box and mono amp to power the subs pretty well. Research parts on Crutchfield which is a really good site, but prices are a bit higher. I did most of my looking up parts and bought from Sonic Electronic as they were prob $40 cheaper on each setup then Crutchfield.

I was thinking $200-$300 maybe. See if it was even worth it to upgrade at that price level. I don't know much about audio since I haven't installed a speaker since my 65 VW Bus.

Unless you find a killer deal on some used stuff, not gonna be able to do everything on that.

I would suggest just getting some decent door replacement speakers, can do that easily on your budget and it will be a big upgrade over the stockers.... but once you add amp, box, and subs, cost goes up.

So...thats good. At least I can get good improvement simply.... Do you mean all 4 door speakers and spend about $250 on the group of 4?

Can I look them up by what fits my truck, do you know?

Are they fairly easy to install (door speakers)?

I'll throw my 2 cents on here. I replaced all 4 of my speakers with the Polk's listed below. I bought them through Crutchfield when they had a buy 1 get 1 half off. I had the Alpine's in my previous truck and they sounded very good also. A lot of guys on here have installed the Infinity's and they are excellent speakers as well. Look for speakers with the higher sensitivity ratings. You will get the more sound out of them without an amp. I didn't add an amp with mine but several have. Just replacing the stock POS' made a world of difference! Like [MENTION=99933]Franchi Motorsports[/MENTION] stated, Crutchfield is a great site. You do pay a little more but they include all the necessary wiring adapters and instructions for your vehicle. You will save a lot of money installing them yourself. Yep, I was looking at the polks in jerparker's post, but having had infinity kappas in the past, I went with them. I couldn't be happier for $70!! I only replaced the front 2 as I might go a complete overhaul this spring. Night and day even with just the front two!! Make sure to get the metra adapter for $10 so you don't butcher your stock wires. These are crystal clear and really bring out all the notes. They do lack bass, but I knew that going into it!


You really can't go wrong with either of the polk or infinity speakers. You might wanna try two at a time as I just put my fade to 70/30 and use the rear speakers as some sort of bass.
