Default Spare Key(s) Question

First off, I did some searching and couldn't find an answer.

I'm wanting to get one or two spare keys for my truck. I always like to have multiple keys for my vehicles. I know with my other Fords, I was able to buy key blanks from Ebay, get them cut for a couple $$ at the hardware store and then I programmed them to the vehicle. The truck is different though since it's the keyfob combo key.

I'm wondering if I can just buy a couple regular Ford keys (non keyfob style) and program them to work?

Thanks,
Steve

You can always use a standard key but it will only open the door, not start the vehicle. However I have no idea if you can use a previous generation chipped key, don't believe so. Our keys aren't cheap either. Be prepared to spend $120 on the cheap online!

Any of those basic 90 bit 10$ keys will work if you dont need remote head.

I did the flip key mod and I believe you can have up to six keys coded to your truck - ie open the doors and start the truck

got the flip keys from ebay for about $25.00 each and had them cut at Homedepot

need to program ALL the keys when you do this

Insert Admin Key 1: Turn to On, Turn to Off. Remove Key.
Insert Key 2: Turn to On, Turn to Off. Remove Key.
Insert New Key: Turn to On. Wait a few Seconds. Turn to Off. Remove Key.

New keys arrived today. I had them cut at Ace hardware then programmed them at home. They work excellent!

Keys: $13.99
Cutting: $2.00

Total Investment: $16!
