I do remember though... spending all I had on "awesome tunes" back in the day.

Don't apologize ... I'm in that boat with you. When I was younger, I'd completely redo the sound systems in my cars. I had an 89 mustang GT that I put an alpine head in, HK amp for the main speakers (Boston Acoustics), Rockford Fosgate amp for the two 12" woofers in a custom box, and an electronic crossover. It was super loud, super clear, and more bass than anyone would ever need.

These days, while I do admit that even the Sony premium system in our trucks is lacking, it's more than what I need with rare exception ... because there are those few times here and there I really wanna crank it up loud and just jam ... but I'm not gonna spend money on that for such a rare occassion.

And as for the peace and quiet ... I have noticed all too often that I don't even turn the radio on. I may just be thinking while driving, or on the phone ... and I get to where I'm going, and realize the radio never got turned on. And most of the time, when I do turn it on, it's on either news or sports talk radio ... and God knows, I don't need a system upgrade for that! LOL

LOL, man i tell you, but you already nailed it! I like my music nice, clear, and loud sometimes, and that sometimes is literally sometimes. When you have such a long commute like i do, that sometimes comes in handy.

I was not fortunate like many to have my own car growing up. Heck it was not until i was 25 before i had my own vehicle.

I still get to go fishing, camping, boating, riding. It's all fun, but when it comes to the quality of the sound in my truck, it has to be good. Way good!... lol

I was the same. my 93 Ford I had 2 10" subs in the back seat, upgraded the speakers and HU. in my Scion, I had a custom box built for my 10" sub, nice amp, alpine HU, CDT Audio components and it was really loud.

Like Wiggum, I grew up and now mainly listen to sports talk on my 1 minute drive to work. I live literally 3 blocks from work, it's perfect. The radio doesn't get pushed much like I used to do in my other cars. though I still like clear sound, I just upgraded the door speakers all around and it will do for me.
