That funny thing is a J pipe. No exhaust flow enters the J pipe, only sound waves. If you know the frequency of a particular sound that you want to cancel out in your system and with some fancy calculations, you can construct a J pipe with the right radius and length to actually cancel that sound. This is not a Solo invention but they do put it to good use.
Also, the single system is full length and exits exactly where the factory single does...just with a huge *** tip.

Ya, all of our wallets are different. I am at an age and income that I can get pretty much whatever I want. I paid $634 shipped to my door. For a catback that goes duals and then dual pipes at the exit, it doesn't seem too bad. For something that fits like factory and sounds so great, I am happy to pay. I will install it myself so fairly reasonable. Beats the hell out of the '70's when it was all trial and error and all cobbled together.

As the saying goes;
Dual catback exhaust - $634
Smile on my face every time I start it up and drive - PRICELESS!!

I didn't see anything for the 4.6 either. I don't know if Bassani makes anything for the trucks but I had a full Bassani exhaust including long tube headers on my '06 Mustang GT and it sounded amazing. Before we received our new '12 Mustang GT (5.0 of course), I already had a Bassani catback set of mufflers for it. I had them installed the first day we got it. Two guys at the dealership said that is how it should sound/come from the factory when I took it in for the first oil change.

what's up w/ the extra appendage hanging off the side of it?
was there a coupon code or something?
It's a J pipe that has something to do with the overall sound and noise canceling, or something like that. I had the same "WTF is that?" reaction when I first saw it.

That's how much high quality 304 stainless steel costs. Look at the cost of just straight, unbent pipe. Much of it has to be TIG welded, which if you haven't done, it's difficult, which adds to the cost. However, unless you actually need 304 SS, it is a "waste" of money. 409 is good enough for 80% of the population.

I just felt like doing 304 and never having to worry about my exhaust corroding, and I'm in Texas. I've got over $1400 in my exhaust just in parts, and others have well above $2k for a similar set up, it's expensive. The $560 I spent on my Roush/Borla catback was a "steal" in relative terms. I can't even buy a Borla muffler, two $75 polished 304 SS tips, and make my own catback for that little.

I hear ya. I come from the mustang world... thing were just cheaper. You could get a full Stainless catback and a midpipe for the cost of just a catback for these trucks. lol...just hard to stomach I guess.

Yep, hear ya right back. Have had a '06 GT, a '12 GT, and still have our supercharged '92 LX. The Mustang stuff always seems cheaper. Probably more people buying so lower cost. I want that Coyote Mustang sound from my F150 and I have to say the Mach-X seems to be it. I will review once I get it on the truck.
