Slight vibration on take-off

The lube job cured my clunk, but it came back a year later and was redone.

My screw 5.0 4x4 shudders from 0 to about 5 miles per hour. Worse under load. My problem is not in my rear driveshaft or rear springs. I pulled the drive shaft to grease the slip yoke so I decided to take it for a spin as a front wheel drive. Had the exact shudder. Seeing some of the post talking about transmission mounts leads me to think my problem is there. That or the carrier bearing.

Interesting.........
On a related note........ i was under mine changing oil last weekend and was admiring the one piece beefy aluminum driveshaft (145" supercrew). What was not so great was how much the trans moved on its mount whenever i grabbed the driveshaft and pushed it.
Seems as if the rubber in that transmission mount is more like jello than rubber.

I feel the shudder your talking about going really slow or coming to a stop. Like the transmission is not unlocking soon enough and is trying to shove the truck forward against the brakes, or going slow and the motor at idle shuddering the truck because the torque conveyor is locked up at walking speed. Really noticeable in parking lots.
I feel that's a transmission programming problem of too much torque convertor lockup or not finding neutral soon enough at slow speeds or coming to a stop.
Small possibility of mechanical shifting problems but with this so common it is more likely a characteristic of the programming.

Dealer called me back this morning and agreed to perform the TSB work. Going in tomorrow for that. They claim that I am the first ( with them ) to have this done. Guess I need to research RAS now.

Has anyone heard about a vibration damper that ford has for ford trucks? I hear that there are even holes already in the frame for the damper, but they don't tell anyone about it because your warranty won't cover the damper. Anyone heard of this?

I hired a lawyer and went that route. I suggest you do the same, sell the truck, or learn to live with it.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

I have been following this and related threads. My truck, even after the shims, still exhibits the take off shudder. It is annoying because (1) I drive it in stop and go traffic in Dallas and it does it every time, (2) a truck should not act like this, (3) this cannot be good for bearings, seals and other things long term for the truck. I found the post on the transmission and the tranny mounts to be interesting. It would curious if it turned out the while the axle is causing the issue it is the transmission that is root cause of it. I am not sure if I can exert the effort to go through a buyback process.
