I was scared also but I did mine when it was about 25 degrees out. It made it so much easier. There's no way I was going to pry on those plastic tabs in the cold weather. Took 'em off, brought them inside for a few hours and the mirrors came right off. Take your time, use a flashlight and it's more of a twisting motion than prying them off. You got this!
