Default Silly question

I have a 2010 ford xlt scab with a leer 100XQ cap installed. Does the bed/cap (since the cap is mounted to the bed) move independently of the cab? I may need to transport a light weight rod assembly (about 9 feet) on top but won't if I am going to be having any flex going on where the cap/bed and cab meet.

Cushioning material recommendations would be the next matter, but moot if I will have a flex issue.

Yes, the bed and cab are separate structures........but how rough is the road that you are planning on traversing while doing this? If it is smooth road, you should not have any problem with too much flex between the two......

Default It's not the length, it's the motion

I'm not concerned about flexing the rod, I was concerned about how much friction the package would have on the paint on the two opposing surfaces. If they move independently then they will cause the package to slide on at least one of the surfaces. 700+ miles of that would not be good not matter how soft the wrapping material. Oh well, back to the drawing board. Thanks for the input.

def I'd be putting in a cushion of some sort.

I see my box move all the time in the mirror when I go over bumps..
