I want to look into putting a functional turn signal on the front of the mirror. I didn't realize its just a reflector.

Did we ever get an answer to the original question?
I have no problem with buying the needed parts... which are, as best I can tell:
The lens
The bulb
The socket & wire harness
What I'd like to know is... is the mirror housing and/or door already plumbed with the corresponding wire harness to plug the puddle light harness into?
I just don't want to remove door panel & dig into the thing, only to find out that I've got to fabricate a complete wiring job down to the correct fuse/connector under the dash or under the hood.

I was also looking at adding puddle lights. I was going to take the door panel off this week to get to the wiring harness that goes to the mirror. I would think that the harness side would have all the wires there for the puddle light and then it would just be adding a pin into the mirror connector to the light. And then add the light.

we would wire it in to the dome light so we would just piggy back off of that fuse, but I don't know what else we need. Let me know if the wiring harness has the connector for the puddle lights.
Also I wonder if it would be better to go with watt LED's. I want a lot of light and I love the pure white look of the LED's. A friend of mine made some LED lights for us when riding mountain bikes at night. They put out a little over 1100 lumens. They would be too hot for our application but it would be cool if we could find something like those but with less heat.

Ditto!
I also keep seeing a Mercedes in my neighborhood with an LED turn signal on the back of his mirror where our reflector is. It looks hot (of course, it could just be the car). I'm curious if they make anything for ours to be 'useful' on the backside of the mirror (I guess that means the forward facing side).

So what you are saying is the only fuctional lights on the mirrors are the puddle lights and the smaller of the turn signal lights (which you can see while driving the truck)? The lights/ "reflectors" that you see while looking at the front of the truck do not function?
If someone has the mirrors with the front reflectors would you mind popping them out and getting a part number for them? That is if they are labeled, thanks!

This would probably be super easy to do, does anyone have access to the part numbers? I have a freind with a body shop, he could probably look them up. I do a lot of towing and I wish my STX had the signal lights in the mirrors. Help me find all the part numbers (including the puddle lamps) and I'll a do a thorough how to. I'd like it to look factory.

Strato, I believe Kidrock73 did this to his STX, maybe if he reads this he can help you with the part numbers, or maybe PM him. Look forward to reading the thorough walk thru once you do it!

I've been incontact with Kidrock since he installed puddle lights and I want to do the same on my 09 Screw. He advised me that the wiring is in the harness that feeds the mirror, ( purple wire). I checked mine and sure enough it is their, but I couln't get the lights to activate as they should. I checked with a Ford rep and he said that I have to get the Smart Junction Box programmed to enable the feature, since my truck did not come from Ford equipped with puddle lights. I'll be bringing it to the dealer in a week or 2 for re programming. I'll let you know if it works.
