I too chose the Extang, and I installed mine the same as you have. Did you notice on the instructions that they say do NOT tighten the front clamps down on the bed's plastic edge? I think that they expect you to cut notches in the bed rails where the clamps go, but they don't say that clearly.
I have noticed that my Trifold slides backwards (to the point of letting significant water in at the front) if you don't pay attention to that and then occasionally retighten the front clamps.
Still, I am happy with the quality and my choice of this cover.

When I initially installed mine I did a dry run and marked the plastic bed cap with a grease pencil where the front clamps are located. I then used a utility knife to remove only enough of the plastic to allow the clamp to locate and not shift. So far since I have installed it there is no evidence of the cap shifting.
A problem I do have is the adhesive on the front weather strip that is against the box loosens up at the ends from the heat in the summer time. Extang has replaced the rubber once already but I see that it happening again. When the weather gets warmer I might try some urethane adhesive to see if that cures the problem.

My experience with the bakflip HD has been good so far. Install/removal is very easy. For me the big pluses were:
-leaves the stake pockets free unlike extang
-doesn't take up a foot of bed space like the roll tops (and with a 5.5 ft bed this was a real concern)
-folds up flat against the rear window so I don't have to remove it for big loads
-I found that I can open and close the tailgate with the bakflip down
-I can lower the tailgate and lift the bakflip with one hand
-I can mount it tight to the tailgate so it provides a reasonably secure locked space

Quality is good (but not exceptional), it just does what I wanted very well.

Just making a small notch as you've described is a great idea. When the weather warms up, I'll probably do the same to keep it from sliding backward again.

I like the looks of the more flush mounted BakFlip over the Extang Solid Fold.

I don't have a bed cover yet. I was only commenting on the bed covers I've personally seen so far.

Same Question here, which one is the best for keeping water out?? Looks like Bakflip would be....

I have a 2009 F150 Platinum, and I'm concerned over the seals for the Extang..??

Suggestions or ideas??

Thanks!
