Transmission temp gauge

Question Transmission temp gauge

My 2010 f150 trans temp gauge is moving with in a block from my house. the engine gauge is still cold is this normal???

Yes. Tranny heats up faster than the engine does. No worries.

Mine does that too. I'm wondering if these trucks have transmission heaters? My old Tundra had that feature to bring the transmission temperature up as soon as possible.

No heaters just less volume (size) to heat up.

There is probably a thermostat in the line that runs to the transmission cooler that limits oil flow until the transmission is warm. On the truck I currently drive, while I wait for my FX4 , it also won't shift into OD until the transmission is warmed up.

Dittos.

There is a lot of heat built up in any auto trans, and why a trans cooler is so important is you tow a heavy trailer or boat in a hot climate area.

the tran temp gauge shows normal for a range of actual transmission temperatures - it basically is a dummy gauge. Mine will increase sitting in the driveway.

The truck should shift into OD but the torque converter probably doesn't lock till it's warm. Every conventional automatic with lockup I've had was like that.
