Question Heated Mirrors and Rear Defrost Not Working

Looking for any ideas here.

On my 2012 F-150 Ecoboost SuperCrew, the heated mirrors and rear defroster have quick working. The indicator light on the button will not light up. Defrost and A/C are working fine.

I've checked all fuses related to rear defroster, heated mirrors, relay power, rear defroster coil, etc. and all appear to be normal.

I even swapped the main #4 relay (controls both) with a good relay and it still does not work.

Anyone had this issue before and if so what was the fix? Any help would be appreciated.

Your mirror defrost is probably working. If you have a sliding rear window, this is a common problem. Ford will not do anything about it unless you are still in warranty.
Do make sure the rear slider is closed. Do a search on here, and you will find a lot of them, mine also.

Here you go..I was interested in this as well. Looks like rear window isin't truly closed all the way or their is an issue with a switch/pressure sensor or something to the effect in the rear sliding glass area.

Welcome to a growing club that Ford refuses to acknowledge.

Some have had luck getting it replaced under warranty, either with the original 3/36 or though ESP. Others have had the misfortune of having the back window explode and was able to get it fixed through insurance replacing the window, however, most of us are SOL and have to fork out the cash to get it fixed.

I was lucky and got it replaced under warranty. There is no parts to replace except whole rear window assembly.

I had the same issue, took it to the dealer and they had the glass on order in about an hour. If you have a good dealer, they'll take care of you. If you're not under warranty though, it could be expensive.

mine did this also, had to have entire rear window assembly replaced to solve it. Funny part was they had to wait to have ford "approve" it first, even though the truck was only 2 years old and 18k miles???? not sure whats up with that since it was still under bumper to bumper warranty

Mine stoped working also, when I went to dealer the girl behind counter said it was known issue and they keep rear windows in stock. But for some reason after they did some tests on it. It magically worked again. They said after they power cycled the rear slider everything worked. I found it odd that it started working again just by opening and closing slider. But for now its working again.
