Default Should I Plasti Dip my wheels black or not?

I have always liked black wheels and recently couldn't pass on a deal I found on some rims someone was selling. They have black trimming, but don't care about the polish look. I know Plasti Dip just peels, but it is a matter of pulling the wheels washing drying and carding around the tire.

Would like some opinions about if I should plasti dip them or leave them alone.

Thank you in advance.

By the way I am planning on getting black tips once I find a good set. I would like maybe 3 or 4inch tips.

Just dip them if you don't like it peel it off... You could always powder coat your rims if you really like the black

Easy to undo if you don't like it!

If you know you want them black, just get them painted or powder coated and skip the PD.

I wasnt sure if I wanted to go black, so I PD'd mine. It didnt turn out as well as others have and I took all the precautions and prepped the wheels well. Although it gave me an idea, the PD looked kinda crappy after a couple weeks.

I ended up powder coating the wheels and couldnt be happier. I went with a semi gloss, the PD was too matte for my taste.

IMO I would use 7-8 coats per wheel, maybe even the entire can... I used 7 coats and it actually has a nice bold black color, no glossifier used. Also I took the tires off, just made it easier and did one coat starting from every spoke...plus the first semi coat.

I like using Plasti-dip and have considered doing my rims as well. I like your truck as it sits and think there is just the right balance of black and chrome!! My only concern is the chips in the Plasti-dip as time goes on...but if it is done correctly, you can definitely give it a try and probably be happy with the outcome. Good luck with your decision.
