Default Should I buy the factory paint protection

I just bought a new FX4 2014 and only go the undercoating done. Some people said I should go for the paint protection as well. What do you guys think? Is it worth the 500$$$?

Thanks

If you really want it I'd check pricing out of a local shop. These after the sale ad on's are serious profit for the dealers. I skipped all that bull **** when I bought my '14 last month.

If you drive the Sea to Sky a lot, or Coquihalla, or similar, buy paint protection film for your lights and exposed paint on the front. 3M is a good film. You will get a better price if you go directly to a window tint shop, than pay the dealer to bring in a window tint shop and apply it. The 'paint protection' is just a wearable sealant. It will likely be gone within 2 yrs.

I really dont do sea-to-sky or highway too often. Mine is a city truck. Took it on a forestry road yesterday but the rocks that fly off probably turned me off of it for the foreseeable future.
I guess I will check with some autobody shops.

Gotta agree. I was told long ago that all they do is put a good coat of wax on the paint then give you some type of warranty. You can do the same thing a lot cheaper. So far I haven't had any problems with the paint on any of the vehicles I've owned. Just keep a good coat of a premium wax on your truck, and you should be fine. IMHO.

Keep in mind I'm quite older than my friend djfllmn, and only wax mine twice a year now. But, the Wifey thinks I may wash the paint off of it as I do keep it clean.

The paint protection is basically glorified baby oil. I know because I've had to apply it. Just another dealer item that doesn't work

At the last dealer I worked at, they charged $695 per application. Once we started repainting entire vehicles for water spotting related to that crap, that no amount of sanding and buffing would cure. My manager bought a bottle of the product the main part of the dealership used... Yup $40. For a whole bottle, that you could do 6 cars with. We needed it, because the customers with the repaints, wanted that paint sealant back on!! Haha!
