I wish I wouldn't have looked at this thread! Now I am contemplating to buy an ESP for my 2012 FX4 I just bought.

I bought one on my '13 Plat- Now I have (2yrs) 45,000 miles- Sunroof jammed open- Dealer said $1800 to fix. Ended up $2200 completely new roof- Not a hint prior to it jamming open- Nothing I did caused it.. Had a $50 ded. Glad I bought the warranty. Dealer said the plastic in the gears/track just crapped out- no fault of user..... Glad I got the warranty but probably will trade to a 16' in 2 yrs.. I run a lot of miles, not hard but a lot.

Factory warranties are relatively easy to offer because not much is expected to happen in the first few years of ownership.
They lied, im thinking to scare you into forking over a inflated sum for the extended warrenty.

No sir, I am definitely not a troll. When I sat in the finance office, the gentlemen began his discussion about the ESP options. He started out with a comprehensive plan which costed a few dollars under 3K which included Gap Coverage, maintenance coverage, tire and wheel coverage, life insurance coverage and the regular extended vehicle warranty. I walked away with simply an extended warranty for 8 years or 100,000 miles which ended up costing me $650 dollars. So no....I am not a troll.

8 years or 100,000 miles for $650 for a Ford warranty? Are you sure it's not some 3rd party warranty? I'd like to see the paperwork on this.

I can't say it is impossible, but I will say it is very unlikely that you got an 8 year 100,000 mile premiumcare esp from ford for that price. Basecare or extracare maybe. Or possibly one of the aftermarket non-ford esp. For reference the typical price paid for a 70,000 mile 7 year premium care from one of the heavily discounted online vendors is about $700. 8 year 100,000 miles is about $1300 I think. So $600 below that from a dealer is unheard of.

Are you sure you know what you actually bought?. Finance guys are sneaky.....

I have not had a single issue with my truck since I bought almost 3 years ago. So my question is should I invest in an extended warranty or take a risk and let my factory warranty run out?
Just read half the posts on this forum with all the different issues and problems people are having with their trucks === seems to me that an extended warranty is a must have.
