Default Should I buy an extended warranty?

Looking for opinions and advice about extended warranties. I know there are plenty of threads on this subject already but I have a specific question. I live in interior Alaska where the 8 month winters are extreme and hard on vehicles. The factory warranty on my fully loaded 2012 FX4 Eco ends in January. I have not had a single issue with my truck since I bought almost 3 years ago. So my question is should I invest in an extended warranty or take a risk and let my factory warranty run out?

You answered your own question. No issues in three years. Waste of money.

How much does it cost? I was told that I could only buy the extended warranty at time of sale and cannot add it later. I passed on it. That being said, I wouldn't consider your past 3 years of no issues to be any indicator of future performance. Factory warranties are relatively easy to offer because not much is expected to happen in the first few years of ownership.

You can buy an ESP Ford warranty at any time before base warranty runs out. Got mine from www.floodfordesp.com Paid $1,100 for 7/75 with $50 ded. Premium care.

Cheap enough insurance is the way I look at it, I've personally seen those warranties pay for them self in one visit to the shop, there is a ton of complicated and VERY expensive electronic systems in our trucks.

Peace of mind.

This^^^It is a matter of preference, but I bought one more for the electronics in the truck than the drive train. And, it was for my own peace of mind. Bought mine (Premiumcare $50 deduct) from Flood Ford also, and saved 600 bucks ($1110 vs $1750) over my dealers quoted price. FYI, the extended warranties are approx. $100 more if you wait to buy close to the end of the factory warranty.

I also used these guys for my wife's 2011 Edge. They had the best prices at the time.

I bought one with my 2014. My last Ford was a 1991 F150 and I swore then I'd never own another one. Biggest lemon I've ever owned. But my buddy bought a new F150 and I really liked it so I decided I'd try another one but I bought the warranty for peace of mind. 1750 miles and so far no problems. I know you all are saying 1750 you should not be having problems. That's what I thought back in 91.Wasn't the case.

Happy Thanksgiving
Bud
