Ok, I searched Intermittent A/C fan and it seems nobody has the same problem. My A/C sometimes will work just fine then other times the fan will turn off completely and then come back on intermittently. It doesn't make a clicking noise but sometimes makes a moaning noise like the fan is having trouble starting up. But then the next day it works just fine, makes me wonder if it's the fan or the signal getting to the fan. It also doesn't matter if I have the fan on auto temp or manually turn it on, it still sometimes works and then sometimes doesn't or will just decide to work fine for a day. I'm afraid to take this to a mechanic fearing a huge bill to isolate what exactly it could be.

Sounds like you've got the 2 likely possibilities in mind. There's the fan, and there's its controller/resistor. One or both of those is probably bad, and both are a pretty easy replacement, behind the glove box.
