Rusting before first payment!!
Noticed rust on the rear chrome bumper today. I have had the truck for less than a month. There is no damage (dents or scratches) to the area that is rusting. There are 15-20 small rust blemishes showing through the chrome on the passenger side rear bumper
The truck is a 2011 XLT XTR 4x4 5.0. Has anyone seen or heard of this?
I ran into my local Ford dealer today and explained the issue. He said it was the second case he heard of in the last week.

Thanks for the info
Thanks for the help. I have checked out the rail dust threads.
I will take it to the dealer and hope they can correct the problem.

I had it all over my white xlt. The dealer tried to get out of doing anything but i didnt back down and they ended up doing an "acid wash" on my truck. Ford actually has a product that dealerships can use to get rid of the rail dust, it's a multi-step washing process. There is a 12 month 12k mile paint warranty and after that u r on ur own. You should get the dealership to do this for you asap. If it is on ur bumper then it is probably on the whole truck and it will ruin the paint

exact same corner of bumper.
I have the same rust. It would appear to me that the chrome is sub standard. I have had it acid washed and polished by the dealer. It clears up for about 2 weeks.
Dealer indicated replacement was next.
I definitely had it before my first payment.

Had rail dust on a 09 gmc white truck and it came back no matter what they did to it stay away from white if possible. Got into a argument with service guy went down the road and traded for a silver f250 had no problems with this truck at all. All depends were your truck is on the train, if its on the top its much better.
