roush vs whipple
hey guys ive been looking into buying a new truck. I have found a ford dealer that does the roush installs i was looking at the 6.2l or 5.0l fx4 f150. now after doing lots of reading of various threads ive learnt.
1. roush supercharger kits have a terrible tune but warranty.
2. whipple would be a better kit but would have to kit a shop install it and have no warranty.
i like the looks of both kits but im on the fence whitch to go with and what motor. the 5.0l internals would handel the power realiable so ive read but im sure the 6.2l would also. fuel milage is important but it is a 4x4 supercharged truck. id like your guys opinions on which you recomend and if there are any threads that explain this all a link to them would be apprecaited.
thanks

I've seen both Raptors and 5.0 FX4s on Ebay with Roush supercharger kits, so it would seem either can handle the forced induction.
If money isn't a concern, and you can find a 6.2L FX4, I think that would killer.
Some of the Procharger guys might have some info about their system and how the 5.0 handles the supercharger too.
Keep us up to date on your project - it sounds great whatever you choose.

Who Says Roush has a terrible tune?? My mustang is roushcharged with Roush's PCM recalibration and everything is fine.. Roush does it so you don't need to to buy a tuner or get dyno tuned.

I run Paxton blowers on my Mustangs and Rangers over the years. Never had a warranty issue with those not sure why Whipple would. Adding a blower won't void your warranty and regardless if its roots or centrifugal the dealer can't choose which to warranty. I had my first centrifugal blower (Paxton...thanks to Joe Granatelli Jr.) installed at a Ford dealer in CA, lots more mods came as well and JBA dyno'd my 5.0L, 1990 stang at 585 RWHP. I prefer centrifugal over roots type, just my experience. Fuel mileage will increase slightly at cruise control driving since the forced induction creates a more balanced A/F ratio for combustion. On the flip side if you hammer the pedal your gas will really suck...but it's soooo sweet to get pushed back in your seat by the raw power. Either way you go you won't want to be without one after your experience. Have fun!!

I'm leaning towards the 6.2l because we'll it be a beast. The roush I've read on other threads and on different sits that on the f150 there tunes are safe because of the warranty they give. The roush down the road with a custom tune would be sweet. I need to use it in cold weather I'm up in Canada and it gets real cold. In the summer I have my car to enjoy.

I have not looked into I those kits. But I will do some research on them I still have to sell my diesel so I have some time before I pull the trigger on it.
