Roush or Flowmaster???
I just bought a brand new 5.0L FX4! I don't have it yet, but am trying to get all my mods in place so I can get it all together once the truck comes in. I am going to do the catback exhaust change, and was looking for your comments on what you recommend between the Roush system and the FM American Thunder. I have heard the Roush in person and love the sound, but I can get the Flowmaster system for very cheap, as my father-in-law is a dealer for them. My father-in-law just says that I am paying for the name if I go with Roush.
Just looking for your thoughts on which route to go. This is my first Ford truck and I want to get it right!
Thank you!

Cost usually comes down to the type of metal used. T304 > T409 >Aluminum are the most common. With T304 is highest quality and least likely to rust. The other 2 are cheaper and used more by brands like Flowmaster especially. Some use a mix of 304 and 409. Guarantee you have a higher chance of drone with Flowmaster also.
Surely...your father in law would have told you all that right?
For sound comparisons, you'll find some videos on YouTube. I would recommend adding Borla to your consideration list.

You get what you pay for. Roush is better quality. Find a sound clip of the Flowmaster to see if you'll like it. I chose FM because it was cheap, but had I had the cash I would've done Roush. I'm happy with FM but it's loud and drones. Doesn't bother me because I found some nice Ford Racing pipes and it looks good, and the drone is growing on me. Go cheap or go good.

Researching mufflers as well and while the Roush sounds amazing all I read is that the drone is terrible. Check out Stage 3 Motorsports website as they did an awesome install and video on over 12 popular exhaust systems on their 2012 FX4 5.0 project truck...

I am definitely leaning towards Solo Performance now.

I have a 2013 FX4 5.0 with the Roush exhaust installed January, I can say everyone I know is jealous of the sound my truck makes. Let me tell you it is awesome, no video does it any justice at all (trust me I've listened too them all). There is no drone on mine, there's a rumble on the highway but that's it and it's not even that loud. The only thing I do not like is the material, my father has the same truck with stock exhaust and his exhaust looks better than mine corrosion wise and I live in MD and we're just now leaving a pretty active winter. I'd personally recommend it too anyone, also while towing about 6K it's really not bad either. Talking on the phone people can hear it through SYNC if you stomp on it and that's the only time. GO FOR THE ROUSH

I haven't heard any drone complaints from the Roush, but I've been reading mostly about installs on 6.2L engines, so I can't really comment on the 5.0. You can always leave the stock resonator on. It definitely does it's job well.

If I were given a Roush exhaust, I wouldn't put it on my truck. I think they sound awful in person. Loud, rappy and annoying. A coworker of mine has the Force II Flowmaster on his truck and it sounds great. It's the one I'm going to buy myself. He says there's very little drone and from what little I've been in his truck, he's right.

That's why it's important to listen to these before buying. What sounds good to you may sound awful to me, and vice versa. A lot of this is very subjective. And even videos don't do it justice. I thought the Flowmaster 40 sounded raspy. Until I heard it on my truck.
