Rough idle/chatter/shake 5.4L

Unfortunately I had to dump the truck
I would have had a paid off truck, if they would have fixed this issue. After the warranty work and week long rental...the shaking came back. I was out the 200 deductible. I got rid of the truck last year.

not much
The dealer told me they were trying to replicate the issue and went back and forth with ford to replace the cam phasers but at the end of a week they just replaced a small component (maybe a tensioner) because they couldn't get the warranty work approved through ford. This was not battle I wanted to pursue because the truck was almost near the end of the extended warranty. Ford is lucky that I purchased another ford sedan after this issue.

Thought I would chime in since my motor was replaced by ford on warranty for the cam phaser failure. Under load and in reverse I would get a loud diesel noise from my engine which would go away if I revved it up. Happened 3 times and never got a cel but did a code scan and saw a code for over retarded cam. Took to the dealer and nothing for a full day. Called me he next day and informed me that the truck may need a new motor. After another couple days they evaluated a parts replacement or new motor and opted to put a new motor in my truck.
Now trying to break in the new motor for work as I pull a trailer. The new motor is much different than the old one. Has a slight vibration at 1500rpm when park and revving it up, is this something I should be concerned about?
Btw I have a 2009 screw 4x4 with the 5.4l

I'm trying to follow all of these updates and overall the outcome seems the same. Bad news. I JUST noticed my truck doing this at very random times. 2009 screw with 80k, no warranty. Maybe someone can clear this up for me, is there any situation where the outcome doesn't result in a new engine? I've heard several "fixes" that don't seem to last. Is there any way to tell if it's vct issue or low oil pressure issue relatively easy? Is a vct issue really that much better or do they both result in the inevitable junk motor? Any help would be great as I'm ready to head to a dealership to see if there is any other junk on the lot and dump this one. Pretty sad I've put 15k on it and owned it 3 years and appears I'm staring at catastrophic failure.

The gasket for the front cover? In thinking new vct solenoids are going to be a good idea, but a good mechanic buddy told me regardless the oil sent via those solenoids isn't going to take out a can bearing as it's only designed to adjust the timing. I should be seeing a fluctuation in oil pressure on the gauges if the the gasket is bad correct?

There's a gasket on the back of each tensioner that's what blows out. It is a major design flaw, but once they are in your set. You'll need to replace entire assembly and solenoids. If you can keep everything too dead center it should be a easy job, just don't get out of time and you'll be fine

I thought the same thing on the gauge, I didn't, mine would be when I was low rpm sometimes when kicking to reverse and the rpm dropped and the engine sounded like it was self destructing. Better do it sooner than later to be safe, bad oil pressure can't be good for anything.
