Rock chips

Go to harbor freight and buy the tiny air brush. Take the paint code to a paint shop and get a small amount and a clear. Tape off and spray a few coats and clear. Best 50 bucks ever spent and looks perfect.

On my future 2017-18 Raptor Screw I will be paying the extra coin to get the front 3M clear wrapped. My father did this on his Braun Toyota Sienna van, has driven it cross country twice and not one chip damage up front... he's got 52000 on his 2014.

The first thing I did was buy the 3M kit for the front of my 2014 F150 and had a professional install it. It offers a level of protection from rock chips and its a lot easier to get the bug guts off as well. Another thing I did was buy a section of aluminum screen and put a piece of it in front of the A/C condenser, radiator, transmission oil cooler, and the CAC to keep the bugs out.

I had the front of my truck covered in the protective film, and I've gotten a few rock chips on the side of my bed of all places. If it's a daily driver it's unavoidable, eventually it'll catch you somewhere unprotected lol
I just touch up the ones that are deep enough to rust and learn to not go too OCD on my truck since I drive it everywhere and **** happens.

I passed a truck hauling rock this week and caught one in the bumper and one on the upper side of the fender on my 2014 STX. Going to fix it and then have the rest of the front end sprayed with 3M

The only thing about having an FX truck or any truck for that matter that has PTM bumpers is the artifacts that build up over time on the front bumper where most small dings occur...Allready had to fix a few dings from rocks, etc. on the front bumper, would really hate something on the front end of the hood.

I use the Duplicolor matching touch up pen. Perfect match.
Now it also comes with clear coat on the other end.
I do kick myself for not getting, the 3M on just the bumper.
With my 2005, I must've lucked out with it, because I had maybe 10 nicks in 9 years.
This one forget it..? I must have touched it up 10 times already in one year.

Ford recently changed their touch up pens and its a new 2 stage process. Dunno how it is going to work but I have to try it out. I might just get my FX4's front bumper repainted though. It's at 20000 miles and just over a year old....... but the damn rock chips are retarded. The windshield is also demolished but that's what happens when they use gravel on the highway in the winter time. I won't winter drive the FX4 really from here on in but jeeze.......
It's my own stupid fault but I should have 3M on the front of it from day one. Then I would avoid this. So now it's fix the damage...... then do 3M.
I have to devise a way to protect the paint to match badge up front too..... it's ruined lol. I am thinking clear plasti dip for that as applying 3M to the raised letters and whatnot on it will likely be an air bubble disaster.

I was about to get my bumpers PTM to go with my PTM fender flares I have yet to put on. Currently, the bumpers are dipped in anthracite grey, which I recommend has a cheap solution to those who no longer want chrome bumpers.
Was wondering about plastidip clear myself.
