Default Rim offset question..

Hey,

New here and i got a quick question...

I want a wider stance on my F150 XTR supercrew
I would liek the tires to stick out 2in or so, but i don't realy want to lift the truck tbh..

So my question is

Can i get away with Keeping stock size tires 275/65R18
and putting on Rims with a ( example ) -24 offset ? will it rub?

has anyone done it and if so what is the offset tolerance for stock size no lift for offsets.

PS: Not keeping stock tires but getting the same size tires only a little more agressive than stock (example) mud graplers etc....
OR what size of tire can i got with a -12 to -24 offset till its no good etc..

Example_____
______________
RIMS
Offset: -24mm
Backspacing: 4.606"
Bolt Pattern: 6-135
Rec. Tire Size:275/65-18
Weight: 33.7lbs.

Welp in the vein of being personally responsible for the outcome of your change and of the teach a person to fish ... mentality (learning)
  • OEM offset is 44MM
    .
  • use the above to determine OEM backspacing (dependent up rim width)

  • physically measure your front/rear fender gaps - distance between the inside fender edge/lip to the outside sidewall of the tire.
    .
  • physically measure your front/rear wheelwell gaps - distance between the wheelwell to the inside sidewall of the tire.
Then ... Based upon your what's-going-to-change, do some more math' and answer your own question(s).

I reused my stock size tires, just until they wore out, they are the factory 18's. I have a -20 offset, they stick out about an inch, and I find that the do not throw crap all over the fenders like i thought they would, its just enough to give it a bit of stance but without having to add a flare.but you could if you wanted to.

Compare stock to your aftermarket choice and evaluate the differences.
