Differences in 2011-2014 FX4's? Best model year?
What are the interior differences or options from a 2011-2014? I'm looking at well equipped FX4's. Really the only thing that im noticing besides front grille changes and maybe different rims are the lack of an entertainment screen on the 2011-2012. Can anyone fill me in on anything else of interest? Is there a better model year to buy as far as issues or anything?
Also does anyone know of any aftermarket entertainment screen options that could be installed that would also allow the steering wheel controls to still work?
Thanks.

2011 FX trucks had blue needled gauges, but 2012+ had red needled gauges with the fx logo.
2011 FX trucks didn't come with cooled seats but 2012+ did. 2011 FX2/4 bedside stickers are more boxy than 12-14. 2012 FX trucks with appearance package had full leather seats, as where 2013-14 trucks had suede inserts.

Your best bet is to look at the Ford Brochures for each year to pick out the difference as there are many in the base FX4 as well as the Plus and Premium packages, and to add to the madness, in 2013 they introduced a new Appearance package.
Just do a google search for "2011 f150 brochure", the first hit is usually the Ford Brochure PDF for that model year.

Actually, the 2011 and 2012 FX4s had SYNC navigation/entertainment screens, depending on options. My '11 FX4 with the Luxury Package has it, as an added option.

The absolute best IMHO ......is the 2013/2014 Appearance Package FX4's.
They have the special edition interiors, with Alcantera centers, and red piping, blackouts everywhere.
This is the 2012 Special edition interior, as you can see the centers are leather and not alcantera, and they're dyed red under, and you cn see it showing through. Cool also.

Rear gear ratios were different too. 2011 fx4 only came with 3.73 gears. 2012 and after 3.55 gears were standard with the 3.73 being an optional extra. Personally, I wouldent trade me 3.73 gear 2011 fx4 for the world. Love this truck!

You may already know as these differences are not specific to fx4's but the ecoboost is slightly different for 13-14. And I think the suspension is different on the 14's as well.
While on the topic of generic differences, 11-12 have a different dash layout than 13-14s and have an older version of MFT with the big 8" screen.

Only with the 402A "Luxury" pkg (on the '13s anyway, not sure about the '14s)
3.73 gears come standard with any level tow package (Std. or HD) ELD came in the FX4 and above trims. FX4 in '13 (& '14?) came with the Hill Decent control like the Raptor.
If someone can verify that the '15s have the same front suspension as the '14s, then that's OK. If it is different, and you ever want to modify the front suspension, then the '14s will be a single-year version, which *may* make it difficult to get aftermarket parts at some point.
Someone please verify...

I believe the 2013/2014 FX4 did have a 4.10 gear option. Ecoboost with max tow only. Only way to get those gears outside of the Raptor and Tremor and it wasn't cheap.
