Return to Stock with 4.56 Gears
Hello all,
This is my first post to the forum, however, I have been reading it for some time now.
My extended warranty recently ran out on my 2011 5.0 4x4 and I decided its time to start personalizing it. I have a 2" level kit and 3" blocks in the rear so i decided to sport some Nitto Trail Grapplers (35x12.5R18), yes they rub a little on a full turn but I can live with it. I have ordered an X4 with 5 Star custom tunes and will be installing 4.56 gears in the next week or two.
So now my question; can I take the truck to the dealership (with stock tune of course) and have them program the truck to recognize the 4.56 gears so that whenever i need to "return to stock" on the X4 the gear ratio is not changed back to 3.55?
Sorry if this has been answered before as I couldn't find it. If so, please post a link and I will happily read it.
Thanks in advance for all info!

A definitive reply will surely follow but IIRC, FoMoCo reprogramming for different gearsets can only be done to the extent as those originally available for your model (and VIN). I believe the highest numeric gearset for any F-150 was 4:10 (Raptor)?

Just get an updated tune 5 star. It costs only like 50-60 bucks. That's what I did when I upgraded gears. Easy.
What reason would you have to return to stock/drive it like that anyway?

But I would want to go back to stock because 3 months ago my transmission went out and it was replaced by my extended warranty. The extended warranty expired last week. I have a separate warranty for the new transmission now. So if any thing happens and I have to take the truck in to the dealership; I would flash the truck back to stock. However, I don't want the truck to think it has 3.55 gears in when it will actually have 4.56.
And THANKS for the quick replies.
