Finally got around to breaking my lights open. Was much easier than I expected. I did 260 for 25 on the first one and broke them apart in 5 min. The second I did at 260 for 15 min and it took me no more than 3 min to rip them apart. I think next time around, I won't go as hot.
All that old sealant looks like it'll be fun to get out.

Did a retrofit on the 2013 HID lights about a year ago, and decided to open them to freshen up the look and fix some alignment issues, never really checked to see if the two beams lined up and after a year of slightly crooked cutoffs I decided to fix it. Lights came apart easy, but I was really surprised with what I found. The reflector bowl of the projector had some black residue on it, and upon further inspection, I realized it was the chrome finish which was singed and peeling off. This is for the Evox-R projectors from TRS, and I was wondering if anybody had seem something similar/ if this is effecting light output.
I am running 55w morimoto ballast with morimoto bulbs. only thing I can think of is 55w is too hot for these projectors?

Figured, just wondering how many more people out there have thi sproblem, since the evox-R 55w combo seems to be a popular retro for the 2013+ HID's. When taken apart light output still blew my halogens out of the water, but worried that if I put it back as is it will eventually melt or burn off whatever reflective material is left

I am working on the headlights one at a time, so I haven't got around to the second one yet, most likely this weekend. I have contacted TRS and am awaiting a response. Hopefully it just a defective piece, because if this is indicative of wear for those running 55w systems, I see a lot of re-retrofits in the near future....

So I got around to the second headlight and the news isn't good. Although the black singed area is smaller in the second projector, it is still significant. However, the second projector apears to have an area where the heat caused either separation or burned through the bowl. In talks with TRS and they sound like they are going to replace the bowls, but I'm not sure that this wouldn't happen again...
