So this morning on my way to work i was driving down insterstate 95 from fort lauderdale to miami and my transmission went. luckily i made it to city streets. Ive had problems from the beginning, it never shifted correctly from 1st to 2nd and then 3rd to 2nd. All ford did was reset the TCM. Its only going to take two weeks to fix, great. How is this possible? Am I the only one? 2010 lariat 5.4l 90% city driving.

If it's a 2010 with 57k miles, you're still under factory power train warranty right? (5 year/60k)

Assuming so, who gives a **** if it takes two weeks... Just be happy it blew today, not in 3,001 miles...

I owned a '99 Dodge Ram 1500 4X4 that needed a new transmission at 33,000 miles, it shifted very oddly before the dealer finally agreed to change it out with a new one. Thank goodness it was totally covered under the original warranty. Sadly, I had other issues with this truck and traded it in for something that offered better reliability and mpg's.

Make sure you get a second opinion on what actually needs to be done before you sign the paper. Ford said my 2000 expedition needed a whole new trans at 40k miles. I'm now at 80k untouched. Clearly something is wrong with yours but make sure they only do what's needed.

Personally I'd rather them replace the whole transmission. Like I said before it's never been right. I don't know if it's the city driving or the first generation six speed. In the last year occasionally it would chug like a train moving from stop. If you hold the brake and let it get pressure it wouldn't do it.

Is a transmission that hard to get? I was told they have "one transmission guy" how is that possible?

Please post what they tell you is wrong with it. I have a 2010 5.4 that's never shifted well from 1-2 that Ford couldn't figure out. Also, when coming to a stop and trans downshifts into 1st often times engine revs up rather high. I went to corporate and still got nowhere. Now I'm out of the warranty period. Very frustrating as it's an awful driving experience. Once into second it shifts great. When yours "went" what exactly do you mean and what happened?

And how might that be done? Do you have an info the for the dealer to reference? I've had mine at the dealer 4-5 times to address this and they can't, or they tell me they can't replicate it.
