removing small muffler?
On my 2012 5.0 the exhaust has a small muffler after the cat and the huge one near the axle. Has anyone just removed the small one ? Wondering how it would sound and if it would make any difference in mileage.

That would be the resonator, not muffler. It's designed to minimize the drone in the cab while cruising down the highway. There are quite a few people that have removed them across all of the engine ranges (6.2, 3.5, etc). You can buy a resonator delete pipe that will take it's place. Search for resonator delete on here and you can see some of the different threads.

- will introduce an annoying raspy exhaust tone especially at WOT.
. - not improve (or decrease) MPG since it (like the muffler) is straight-flow-thru.Resonator ...

I removed the resonator and like it. Just enough more exhaust note and volume. No freeway drone either. For about $30 you replace it with a cheaper aluminized steel pipe and see if you like it. The stainless steel verison is about $90.
