Default Removing mirror caps

I did a search - and found that there are 4 clips that hold on the mirror caps. I just was curious if anyone had any tips to remove the mirror caps - other than take my time. Should I start on the inside, outside, top, bottom? Thanks in advance.

I started in from the top - that seemed easiest for me.

the CORRECT proceedure would be to pop the mirror out

remove the four torx screws that hold the front cover/cap on

and then there's just four tabs that you can depress and the cap pops right off

I'm not quite sure that you'd be able to reach those 4 tabs from the outside very easily, not without scaring up the rest of the mirror cover

I'd be too scared to just go prying around it; might break those tabs off completely

search for the "mirror blinker" mod thread; there's a few more pics in there

Wow, that seems much more difficult than I was expecting. They look like they can just "pop" off. I gotta take the mirror off??

Thanks superbleeder - I found the thread by Dark Wizard. It seems as though removing the glass to get to the mirror cap isn't that difficult. I will check it out tomorrow.

the mirror popping off is the hardest and most nerve racking part; I had to study it for a bit before I got the courage to attempt it... but once you figure it out on the first side, the other side's a breeze

take your time on the mirror step; that's pretty much the only thing you could break in the process, lol, the rest is a peice of cake

Yes, you're going to want to remove the mirror first. Those clips on the caps are way too sensitive, I almost broke one off trying to put them back on without having to pull the mirror off. Once you find the spot on them mirror where you need to start with the screwdriver, it's super easy.
