I'm not sure of the brand but there is a place here that will do a remote start that works with the factory oem key fob installed for $199.

Trying to decide....
Had this on my Jeep Wrangler same place worked awesome...

That's what I'm looking for. I sold a 2010 f-150 platinum that we had before and it used the factory remote. Clicked the lock button 3 times. I just don't recall the brand.

The biggest problem with the factory remote start kit is the range. It sucks. And if you get the 2 way, you'll need a key fob and that eats batteries every month.

I have a 2010 and installed a Viper 5704. It has up to a mile range and I've tested it up to 1/2 mile thru buildings. It uses a small security box (Xpress DBALL but there's others) so you don't need to hide a key in the truck. There are also outputs you can connect to turn on the heated seats and defrost if you really want but then you're really hacking into the truck wiring and it's not controlled by temp. I usually have the climate control set to 72°F Auto and the a/c is turned on in the summer and off in the winter. You can check the interior temp with the LCD remote too.

It also has a shock sensor and I added a tilt and window break sensor.

The LCD remote can be recharged via a MiniUSB port on the side and a full charge will last 6-8 weeks. It comes with a non-LCD remote but that uses a regular 2032 battery.

The keypad still works to lock and unlock the truck. The keyfob will lock/unlock the truck as well.

I went ahead and looked them up. Viper and Clifford use the same technology for all of their remotes and auto starts. They also use components from Directed Electronics for their "Smart Start" technology.

For reference: Viper, Clifford & Directed

I have had both the Clifford & Viper remotes for my Viper systems.

Compustar uses something different for their phone apps, as well.
