I installed the bi-directional remote starter about 2 month's ago and I didn't want the antenna mounted to low on my windshield so I mounted it on the back of my mirror. From where I park at work I would say it's at least 600 feet and starts no problem. Here is a picture if someone is looking for alternative.

i think i might have to move mine. Maybe PD it first so it's black and a bit less noticeable. Looks like the right place for it.

I'm looking to install the 200 bi directional remote starter but have a few questions. Hoping someone has some first hand knowledge to help.

1) with the basic climate control (dials not the dual zone climate) does the climate control just default to whatever it was when the truck was shut off?

2) after the truck is remotely started is there a way to enter and pop the key in and drive off without the truck shutting down and being restarted (sorry if this is a dumb question. Never had remote start before)

3) once activated through ford ids (I don't have any remote start yet) doest he menu have settings for the length of run time when remotely started?

Thanks in advance. Hope someone can answer these. Cheers

I have a 2012 base level fx4 if that matters

1) yes, in my XLT in the 4" gauge LCD screen (should be the same in your Base FX4) under Vehicle choose Remote start, and under that you can choose a. Wether it defaults to your last hvac setting when truck was turned off. Or B. Have it where the PCM decides what needs to be turned on (I.e. Front/rear defrost on or off) depending on outside & cab ambient temp.

2) yes, once Remote Started-hop in while truck is running, insert key, turn to run, and go about your merry way...

3) also a yes... Theres a 5 min., 10 min., and 15 min. Runtime for the remote start!

I opted for the 100 series when I bought my 2012. I really wish I had gotten the 200 series simple for the extended range. If I was to purchase a 200, would I be able to swap it out myself or would I still need the dealer to flash it? Thanks!

you don't swap it out, the 200 can just add in top of it. The 200 kit has some of the same parts as the 100. Think of the 200 as a range extender with a built in security alarm.

The instal is a piece of cake, complete plug and play. The remote start function will work right away (because you have the 100 already) and the dealer flash is required to properly activate the security module (totally optional though).
