I had the 200 series remote start installed on my 2011 F150 XLT. I recently traded it in for a 2013 F150 XLT and moved the system into the 2013. The dealer "activated" the system but the options to change the remote start settings do not show up in the truck settings page in the instrument cluster. It is set to run for 5 minutes but I would like to change this to 15 minutes. Any ideas why the remote start settings are not showing up on the 2013?

do you know if they hooked it up to the IDS and did a complete flash? I had a 100 series in my 2013 from the factory and when i put in my 200, it worked right away. Its possible the 200 can start the truck out of the box and thus is activated but if it wasn't completely flashed, you wont have the settings in the menu.
Is you security LED working correctly? It comes with the 200 as well and it wont function properly unless the system is flashed as well.

Did you swap it into the new truck or did you have the dealer do it? Ballpark figure on what the dealer charged to activate it? Just wondering because I was thinking of getting this . I called my dealer to inquire about remote starts and the service guy that answered the phone said they install the same one as comes from the factory. Didn't know the range or what model and it's $526 installed

I can't answer for [MENTION=66629]sbonzai[/MENTION], but i can answer some of your questions.

The 200 is an accessory and is not available from the factory. If they are quoting the factory installed unit, they are referencing the 100 series not the 200.

Main differences:
100 Series, fob is built into the main key, approx 100' range, one directional.

200 Series, separate fob, approx 1000' range, bi-directional, includes security portion (2 stage shock sensor and LED)

I can't speak to the 100 series (when i bought my truck the 100 series was already installed) but the 200 series is 100% plug and play and takes about 10 minutes to install. 1/2 of the parts in the 200 series kit are included with the 100 series and if you already have that system, you just use those parts as already installed.

As for activation, both system's require activation by a dealer or someone who has an IDS system to hook up to the truck. The whole process takes approx 5 mins to activate; a lot of dealers will either charge one hour or nothing at all. My dealer didn't charge me a thing to activate my 200. In fact, the remote start system was working fine when i hooked up my 200 series as i already had a working 100 series, but i needed the dealer to turn on the security portion.

Benefits to having the dealer install it is that they should extend the warranty for the remote start into the factory warranty. Other than that, you are just paying for the convenience of not doing it yourself. It's very easy to install in the 2011+.

One more question . Looking online there is a long range plug and play, a 200 series plug and play, a 2 way plug and play . Some have 2 fobs one has a single fob . Other than the obvious fobs , what's the difference? Do you have a part number for the 200 you have ? If it's that easy to install I'll do it myself then have the dealer activate it


Also it says it requires a remote start hood switch. What exactly is that

To be honest i am not sure about the "long range pnp or 2-way pnp". As far as i know the F150 2011+ only has three types of remote start available.
1. 100 Series basic (2 Fobs, both with built in key)
2. 200 Series 2-Way (one fob) [This is a 2-way and a long range system, maybe the types you looked at are confusing the three of them as just this one]
3. Cellular Remote Access. (no fob, iPhone/Android app)

The remote hood switch is installed under the hood to make sure the truck wont start with the hood up. It's bolted to the drivers side fender, a black **** about 2 inches tall, 1 inch in diameter and plunges down when the hood closes. if it's there, you can't miss it.

The part # I bought for the 200 series was: BB5Z-19G364-C

Note to all, there is a difference between systems for Canada and the U.S. I do not know what the difference is but they carry 2 different part #'s

I as you did already have the 100 Series, is the Security portion of the 200 Series needed? As I Only care about the Extended Range R.S. Not the Security system! Will the 200 function Properly, with just the RS part installed and no new Reflash?

Yep. I ran mine for a month or so before i took it to the dealer to get flashed. The 100 series already activates the remote start functions so the 200 just piggy backs that and can start the truck. No flash needed, it works right out of the box.

My LED turned on and just blink rapidly until i flashed it then it functioned normally afterwards.
