Here is from the other thread but it kind of defeats the purpose of a simple way to convert over to LED blinkers instead of reflectors.. Now you have to run wires and take off the mirriors and build this little circuit, dont get me wrong it is really great teh way it works. But for me I just wanted simple 30 minutes in and out to do both.

So once again I steal from iamsuperbleeder (who probably hates me for this by now)
Here is what he did to make the reflectors work both turn signals and running lights..

You can use a 1N4005; the only difference in it and the 4006 is that the 4006 has a higher reverse voltage and RMS voltage rating; but they're both capable of handling the LED's; they both have a 1amp capacity, and the lower volt rating of either is up in the 200's

it MAY be feeding back through the ground for the OEM signals somehow, if the wires are simply tapped into the wiring for the regular turn signals instead of being just grounded to the frame

it MIGHT help to place another diode on the ground wire, flowing away from the LED's, but I'm not 100% sure. that's odd that it is feeding through like that, assuming you followed that schematic exactly

The diagram works perfectly, but you have to run a wire....

interesting. I ended up doing it the easy way, but i guess if im feeling bold one day i might run some wire, and do it that way.

i had fun diagnosing some sound system stuff this weekend as well... blaaaah

I have ran my wire from the mirror to inside the door, but didnt have a grommet so havent ran it from the door to the cab and powered it for the running lights yet. I think I used around 1000ohm resistor, or actually two 570's if I remember correctly, in testing the 270 didnt seem to be enough. First time I bought the wrong leds, they pointed down instead of straight out. Got the correct ones and replaced them but had a problem with my led's not working correctly, cut them for 9 lights but 3 on each side didnt work. Luckily they both didnt work on the inside 3, so they look symmetrical, however they work if you push on them and they worked fine before I installed them, very strange. So now I need to get yet a 3rd set of leds and hook up the running lights. The turn signals work great.

You will probably find the 1k ohm is a bit much of a drop off, try around 500 ohm maybe will work better, make sure diodes are in and face the right direction...

what made me do it the easy way was not knowing if i could just crimp the diodes and resistors in place with my wiring. Or if I would have to solder them. because I do not have a soldering iron and don't know how to solder.

I recommend that you solder and use heatshrink or liquid tape to cover the connections, or you will be doing it again in a couple years.

My local Walmart doesn't carry the 18" lights to cut in half but they do carry a 24" set of LED's. When I cut the required 9"s can the other half still be used or are they garbage

If you are talking about the ones that I bought than they will be garbage. You can cut them only at certain spots and what you cut off is no longer usable unless you really want to get invloved and attach wires to it.
