Recharging the AC
My truck is 5 years old and has about 75k miles. I've noticed this summer that my AC isn't as cold as I think it used to be. Do you think I need to recharge the AC and is there a write up anywhere on here? I've noticed a few connections under the hood, and while I think I know which one to use, I don't want to get it wrong.

Good chance the system is low, Ford states it's normal for up to a lb a year that can seep out, hit wally world and get one of these, it has instructions for use in the package. http://www.walmart.com/ip/AC-Pro-Pro...erant/20461354

Would not recommend -ANY- DIY, off-the-shelf, hand-held A/C recharge kit/shot. WHY: All have sealant in them that contaminate/muck-up the A/C system and cause problems when evac'ing the system when doing a REAL re-charge and/or repair.
Now if you want to give-it-a-shot with straight R-134a, go for it.

I agree, do not do the DYI the AC systems are so sensitive so that you really need the correct amount of refrigerorent even if you go to a local shop and have them evac and recharge that would be better

AC Pro Cold got my a/c down to 40 degrees. Was a little low from the factory.
My brother came over today complaining about the a/c not being like it used to be in his '12 ram. Was a little low, but a 1/2 of the small can of ac pro cold in it, and voila, cold air (whether he had a leak is to be determined, but it did boost it back up to being cold).
So, the ac pro cold kit does work. Make sure you get the black can with this gauge. or if you already have this gauge, just get the 12oz refill can.
worked for me. YMMV.

Good info. I'll check around at some shops, but I'm guessing I'll end up going with a can with the gauge on it if the shops are too expensive. Any chance anyone can show me a pic of the valve to use? I have an idea, but don't want to screw it up. Also, how much pressure should be in there?

this is from a 2012-2014. Look for similar. the FAT tube is the low side port where you will connect.
P.S. for illustration only. I would NOT use the kit with the blue gauge. Use the black kit if you decide to take a shot at the ac pro cold

OK, so get the AC Pro Black gauge kit. Plug in to the low side (fat pipe) and charge to 40 psi?
Last time I did this on an older vehicle it had to be running with the AC cranked all the way up. I assume it's still the same?
