I'll be installing my new power sliding rear window tomorrow. I got all the trim and old hardware cut loose today so all I have to do tomorrow is take the last couple of bolts off and install the new one. The new glass came with the butyl seal already installed on the back. I'm hoping that means it might be a newer part and maybe less prone to breaking. I'll have the old window for sale up here shortly. The glass is completely intact and is only being replaced because the defroster grid was damaged when I removed a previous owners tint. Whoever buys it won't have to worry about pulling a fuze or anything to keep the glass from cracking. I'll probably try to get about 150.00 for it.

Ford Response About Rear Defroster
All, I've come full circle with Ford regarding my 2012 F-150 Lariat and inoperable rear defrost. Luckily, my window hasn't shattered, but the rear defrost quick working a while back and my PremiumCare extended warranty did not cover it. Dealer didn't help, so I went directly to the top and wrote a letter to Mark Fields, President and CEO of Ford Motor Co.
Today I got a response in the mail from Ford Customer Service and in short, it read they can't and won't help cover the repairs!
So, unfortunately, my first Ford product is most likely my last...I doubt will never purchase a Ford product again after such poor customer service.
I've attached my letter to Mr. Fields and Ford's response. For those of you who have dealers that will work with you and help cover the repairs, congratulations...I wish my dealer would step up too, but since Ford doesn't care about customer service I wish you luck!

I was talking to a guy that had a 2012 supercab 150 , i asked him how he liked his truck and his eyes went wide open and did he put on a rant ! He said he has had his truck in the shop more than its been in his driveway , nothing but electrical problems , lamps burning out constantly ,computer glitches you name it electrical hes had it worked on or replaced,. said he will never buy another ford and sadly i probably wont either chevy was lacking in customer service as bad as ford so dodge is next on the list and if they prove to be lacking in service i'll most likely try ,and i hate to say it a foreign make.

Add me to the defroster shattering my back glass this morning. 2011 scab with sliding rear window. My back passenger glass shattered . Sounded like a gun was fired in my truck. I didnt know what had happened until I got to work.

Me as well with my 2012 Lariat SuperCrew F150.
I'm not exactly sure when it happened but it was clear that there wasn't any external impact. I figured it was the cold and I found this thread which implicated the rear defrosters. I don't use mine but I do remote start it every morning and I saw mention that that also turns on the rear defroster.
This morning it finally broke after holding together a few days. I called a local Ford dealer (not the one I purchased from) and they said it would be covered under warranty and that it was happening a lot lately and asked if I was using the rear defroster.
They said it would probably be a day or two but they had a spare in stock and had it in and out in about 3.5 hours with an inspection and service to boot. The replacement was covered under warranty.

Update:
Truck back, window replaced, all good, Ford covered.
The clear 2" packing tape held the glass for the 10 days till the parts came in.
I guess I'll never use the rear defrost again...Never had it on the past trucks and I really don't need it on a regular or extended cab.
Plus this one has the power rear window.
