Default Rear window defroster

It took a few weeks but we noticed the new XLT SCREW we bought doesn't have a rear window defroster. Heated mirrors but not rear defroster, what sense does that make?

Is it feasible to add this now or are SCREW'ed?

This is the solid back glass, no sliding window.

Not sure you can unless it runs off the same switch as the mirrors. You could take the not so lazy guy approach and run a scraper over it when the cold strikes. Haha.

I have always assumed that mine doesn't have a defroster because it has a sliding rear window.

Or that the window is up and down and things shouldn't stick to it anyways. By law it can be 100% obstructed so no legal issues there so I could careless about it... MN speaking that is...

The 2010 Platinum & KR come with a rear defroster standard, thats with the power rear slidin window, other models might have it as an option, not sure.

It's a new option available only on the 2010's. standard on the KR and Platinum, but probably available on the Lariat, FX4 and maybe the XLT. I don't know.

It definitely wasn't on my '05 KR with the slider.

check the Ford website

I am surprised that you have an '09 XLT with a rear window defroster in conjunction with the power sliding window?

The book shows the R/W defroster available in the fixed window only for the 2009 model year. The book also states the defroster is N/A for those models which came with the power slider.

I was also aware, via other member comments, that this was no longer the case for the 2010 model year.

When I bought my XLT Screw in June, I did not see a single XLT on the lot with either a defroster or a power sliding rear window. I looked at a lot of trucks.

My 2009 KR has the sliding rear window but DOES NOT have the rear defroster. I was told this was not an option if you got the slider.

I had a choice, slider or defroster, I chose the slider..........

Yes, this is consistent with what the catalog states with respect to the '09 model. The defroster is only available with the fixed rear window, not the manual or power slider version.
