Default Rear differential backlash

I have a 2013 f150 my truck had some play in the rear diff or driveshaft felt it when taking off and mostly parked on an incline. Took it into the dealer driveshaft removed and a kit was installed onto the yoke assembly. Problem solved . This is the part# on my invoice 9L3Z 4w602A hope this helps.

Less than 300 miles after getting the truck out of the shop I broke my pinion while going down the highway at 70 mph. Made nice sparks and a cloud of smoke from the back of the truck at 0430 in the a.m.
Long story short the dealer changed the rearend/driveshaft. The truck has 14,000 miles on it and two oild changes later a new rearend.
Oredered a new 2013 FX4 Eco same as the 2012 except the color, have to get Ruby red no more candy red offered for 2013. I feel as Ford broke it they can keep it.
I have a similar problem on our 2011 F150 Eco. Feels like a lot of play in ring and pinion. Am going to have it checked in a week when I get oil changed. I have 48k on it.

I have a 2013 xlt 5.0 331 gear was having a problem with play in rear end when taking off from a stop and mostly noticed when parked on a slight incline when putting into gear forward or reverse it would make a clunking noise. Took it to dealer they installed kit for driveshaft part is fmc 9L3z 4w602A no more play in my driveline . Hope this helps.

Mine had 27,000 there is are TSBs one for driveshaft didn't fix mine the other was a oil slinger on the pinion shaft. That was my problem, but they had already preloaded the pinion but which caused my rearend to exploded like a hand grenade..Good luck..

Default 2013 5.0 150k

Has anyone correctly diagnosed this issue? It's slop in the rear end we know that but hard to believe a $20 kit fixes it. No idea why Ford would replace drive shaft!

I think this is likely the lack of the grease in the slip yoke ... anyone else solve it .... ?
