Rear "clunking" noise in 2010 FX4...
#11
My old 4runner had this problem as well as my F150 now. The semi-fix for the 4runner was more angle on the drive shaft (w/ 3inch lift) and occasionally re-greasing the joints.
The issue with the F150 isn't as noticeable, so I may just let it go and re-grease it during oil changes.

Service department just called and said that they can't duplicate the problem. Even though it does it to me 1 out of 3 times that I stop. Typical. This is aggravating....

Yep the happen to me in my lariat. We took it to the dealer ship and they said that they could not create the problem so my dad found out what the problem was and made the ford dealer ship fix it

Yesterday afternoon, I dropped the truck off at the service department at the dealer where I bought it and they looked at it and called me yesterday afternoon to tell me that it was ready - they drove it, heard/felt the noise and reprogrammed/recalibrated the transmission and that it was not making the noise "as bad" and that the truck just has to learn how I drive (whatever!). I pick it up, and while it has not done it as often, it still does it. I have searched this forum and have read about the slip yoke problems and I am assuming this is what is probably wrong with my truck. My questions are:
1) What/where is a slip yoke and what does it do?
2) If not fixed, what potential (worse) problems could occur down the road.
I was not expecting this from a newer vehicle and from what I have read on here, it just seems like a lot of the service departments "mask" this kind of problem with a quick fix (like what they did to mine yesterday).
I bought this truck wanting to put a 2 inch leveling kit and tires on it, but now I am terrified to do that because I can't afford for the warranty to be voided.
Any suggestions, anyone?!?!

putting the level kit will not void the trans warrenty, it didnt change anything with the way the trans shifted at all, they have tried changing the tire size in the set up on my truck cause i was also having it shift in between two gears at 25 and 35 mph, that was before i put the 35's on it. i will see how everything does now.
