Default Rear Brake Rotors PITA to Remove???

Last night I decided to do pads and rotors on my 76,000 mi 11' 4WD STX.
Everything was going fine and dandy until it was time to pull the rotors off..

I live in Ohio, so rust is to be expected. BUT, holy hell. The parking brake shoes were stuck like GLUE to the inside of the rotors. I even backed them off with the little gear, and they were still insanely hard to slide off...

I eventually got both sides off, and the new rotors slipped right on...

Was there something I was missing??

Nope. In my experience Ford uses less anti-corrosive materials and coatings compared to other manufactures.

My two year old '13 F-150 has notably more visible rust, on brake rotor hats, hubs, spindles, rear axle, and other components than my previous twelve year old '02 truck from another manufacturer.

Default Rear Brake Rotors PITA to Remove???

I just found a bolt that threaded into the hole on the hub. Threaded it in, and it pushed it off like butter.

This exactly^, that's why those threaded holes are there, to aid in rotor removal.

Oh believe me... I used those too. You would not believe how stuck the parking brake shoes were to the inside of the rotor!

Playing devil's advocate here, but if they were that tight how were they not smoking every time you drove down the street. Seems like your MPG would suck too.
