Default Ravelco anti theft device

Just wanted to see if anyone has had any experience with Ravelco. I have been thinking about having one installed. I work in Houston and the ford trucks are very popular with the thieves down here. Thanks.

I had the ravelco installed last weekend. Have to say they did a great job with the install. Very clean and blends in with the factory harness. I had the plug installed under the dash, easy to get to and out of the way. The only drawback is the size of the plug, but its not a big deal. Defintly worth it for peace of mind. Going to be layering the security, install the jimmi jamers on the tailgate and doors in a few weeks.

Is theft that big of a concern where you live?

The questions is, Would you want it back, stripped, beat up, just barely over book value so the insurance can pay to put it back together?

With the Ravelco, that's the point. They can't steal it unless they have a tow truck. The worst would be a broken steering column and a busted door lock or window. They wouldn't be able to drive it around and beat on it.

How does a Ravelco disable it?

Disables the fuel and the starter. There is no way to hotwire or bypass it.

Without actually doing the research, I'd say this was untrue. If it can be installed, it can be uninstalled (by thieves), then allowing traditional bypass/hotwiring.

I'd say the biggest deterrent would be the hassle of reconnecting everything after taking the device out. The time and expertise needed would likely prevent a theft from occurring.
