Default Rattle in the suspension

Hey guys,
I have found recently that when going over all the ruts and bumps in the city and there is a lot of them due to the bad winter we are having, anyways, the sound that I am getting kind of sounds like a broken sway bar link. When you are also going over the bumps you can also feel it in the steering wheel. I have also taken it to the dealership and they could not find anything. Has anyone else had this problem.

is it a squeeky sound?

I thought a sound was coming from my suspension, but it wasn't it was coming from my rear tail gate. When the tail gate was down the sound went away, up you could hear it. Solution I had to grease the rubber bumpers and it went away.

Cheers,

I bet you got one of the bad EPAS systems. Do a search on it. Seems to be a common problem with the late model f150.

I've noticed the same thing recently in my truck. It only lasted a few days and as seemed to disappear. The roads here are garbage right now with all the extreme cold.

I thought it might be ice or snow chunks built up somewhere in the front of the truck. I noticed it the first time the day after I did a bunch of highway driving a week ago during a snowstorm. Truck had melted snow, salt, slush all over it. My garage is not insulated well so everything froze.

I don't notice it anymore. I also never really felt it in the steering wheel either. But as you said, it sounded like a broken sway bar end-link. I had one break in my previous truck, sounded exactly the same.

Looks like I better research the EPAS issue and see what's up...

I'm thinking like stein78. The Wifey's Mustang started making a clunk/squeak in the rear during some rare cold (single digits) weather here in North Carolina. It stopped after the weather warmed. I figure some water or whatever got into something, and froze causing the noise. Hope that's all it is in yours.

Mine does it also if running in a lot of snow, freezing rain, etc... It builds up on the front coil and decreases the space between the could and causes ugly noise and bump in the wheel when going over bumps. Almost sounds like a control arm is shot. But as soon as it thaws it clears up. Check the build up on your front suspension.

Do you have running boards on your truck? I noticed this same thing a few weeks ago, it was a terrible rattle coming from both sides of the truck. Turned out to be snow and ice built up on the front of my running boards (I don't have mud flaps) and it was built up completely to the bottom of the cab. Any little bump that caused the running boards to flex at all and the ice was hitting the truck. Broke it away with a scraper and noise gone.

I get the exact same thing, I would worry about it if it progressively gets worse. I won't take it in because I figure they would blame it on the level.

Edit: I had removed the power for the installation, but not sure if the tire shop had to do the same for the alignment?

I do have running boards yes. I do try and keep alot of snow build up out of the wheels wells and on the running boards. when I get home I will have to research that epas deal you guys mentioned. we are supposed to get a bit of a melt this weekend I will see about washing everything out of the suspension and then seeing if it still makes the noise. if it does then ill have to go from there but if it stops then it was a build up
