Raptor suspension vs reg f150 suspension
#11
Aside from the shocks, Seven inches wider track Longer control arms High strength steel shock mounts Thicker/larger rear axel I have read several articles/post of project trucks where this setup is replicated and improved upon. There's of course other enhancements but suspension wise this is what I've been able to gather so far from interviews with SVT engineers, web articles and internet gurus.

It's hard to find hard specs, so the little I know I've pieced from multiple sources. This particular nugget came during a Q&A session with some Raptor owners (from the Raptor forums) and Jamal Hameedi, SVT Chief Engineer. The notes of that session state that "Jamal noted during discussion that the rear axle tubes were made thicker and the rear axle larger." This was in the context of a discussion of the differences between a Raptor and a regular F150.
The SVT guys spent two years designing and building the Raptor, so I'm guessing there's some "secret sauce" elements that are not publicized. But from these little tidbits one can learn bits and pieces of the puzzle.

Do yourself a favor and stay away from the factory rear leafs. They are garbage and with the mechanical disadvantage from the lift blocks, suffer from horrible axle wrap. Spend the $1,200 for a Deaver or National leaf pack that will put you at the same ride height without a lift block. It will ride better and the axle wrap will be greatly reduced.

I wouldn't bother with a raptor rear axle swap. They are going for about the same price used as a used fabricated 9". The 9" will be wayyyyy stronger. You will have to get a little creative with installing it but it will be worth it in the end.

Frames are essentially the same, save for the fact that you can't get a SCAB with a 5.5 bed in a non Raptor. SCREW frames are the same.
