Default 2013 5.0 liter cranks but immediately dies.

I've got a 2013 SuperCrew 4x4 XLT with the 5.0 V8 and 18,000 (yes 18 thousand) miles that I bought less than three weeks ago. Without going into the full story of how I got it (it still smells new has the factory tires), I was leaving the house Sunday morning, (2 days ago) and the engine died as I was about to pull into the road. I pressed the gas and the engine completely cut out. I tried multiple times and the engine would start and run up to around 2k RPM and immediately die. It never threw a check engine light. I called the wrecker and while I am on the phone he throws the hood up and starts switching relays around. He said he swapped the run/stop and the fuel pump relays. He got it to crank but would have to hold the accelerator to the floor to get even a rough idle and the engine would die as soon as he let up. I told him to quit fooling with it and just tow it. He swapped the relays back and as he backs the wrecker up I tried it one more time and it cranked and ran fine. I still had it towed. The mechanic has had it for 2 full days and can't replicate the problem. The fuel pressure is fine. The night before, I drove it 150 miles with no issues on the same tank of gas. The only think he said is it had two old codes for cylinder misfires.

Has any one else had any issues like this or can you offer any advice? I have seen others with cylinder misfire issues so if it is a problem I would think it would not have anything to do with the truck just quitting. Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks. I failed to mention that I did check that before I called the tow truck. It was good.

If it's misfiring that bad, it would throw a CEL and have codes stored. Are there any codes stored?

Fuel pump driver module or throttle body are possible. Check the wiring harnesses to make sure a rodent hasn't chewed them. Check all the grounds as well.

The mechanic said it had codes stored but I haven’t had a CEL come on.

I will definitely check what you said tomorrow and report back. The mechanic still has it. He texted me earlier and said he has driven home and around town tonight and still can’t get it to act up.

Did you actually remove fuse 27 and look at it and look into its socket?

I would do the fuse relocation kit less than 20 bucks very easy and you can remove that from the equation

I did. I did not see any burn marks and the leads were making good contact with the fuse.

What were those misfire codes, exactly?
