Just got my grade 8 square ubolts. Fit is good. All I need it's spray paint couple coats of black paint on tow hooks and bolts. $29 cost. If it wasn't for shipping $12 cost was around $17. Will post pics when done. Also previous post had link where I purchased them. Call them do not do it on line. Special order since grade 8.

Installed tow hooks. They are longer than the front ones on my 2013. I like them can use them as steps. Grade 8 metal.

Went with jDMjoes approach. Same sizes, grade 8, made in 10 minutes, $13. Now to get the hooks.

Anyone know if painting chrome tow hooks black will hold up? Or even black for that matter

can this be used as a protector against being hit on the bumper dead on? I was hit Tuesday from the back by a small civic. nothing happened to my truck because she hit the hitch receiver. sorry not sorry about her bumper though.

Yes as long as you get the long ones like I did I believe they Came from's expedition it's about an inch and a half longer than the front ones on 2013 f150.

If you want them to "hold up", get them powder coated.

The used, black ones that I purchased were nicked, scraped, chipped, etc.. Took 'em to a local powder coater and had them blasted and coated. IIRC it wasn't that much $$$. e.g. <$20
.

Well, not like Linex won't hold up haha.
I'll consider both and decide which route I want to go. It will probably end up being Linex because I could get them to do my receiver as well

Did you have them do your receiver? Does it fit?

I asked them if they'd do it and they said sure. But first they'd have to take the whole hitch off and then they couldn't guarantee that using the hitch wouldn't peel away at the Linex. I wasn't a fan of either of these conditions. Too bad cause that would be the end of rust.
I know a lot of people who just get them to hit the outside of their hitch, but they never use it
