Default Raptor Grill Mod - Work in Progress

Hey all,
So I'm working on a few designs right now and would like your opinions.
Excuse the quality of the edited pics as they were only done in MS Paint.

Anyways, here are two pictures. I need your opinions on which looks best!

I should explain them too...
First picture : the trim from around the OEM grille would be reused and painted to match the colour of the truck, with a new insert
Second picture : the trim from the top would be kept, the sides and bottom would be eliminated from OEM and then a new insert would run from headlight to headlight and straight to the lower panel

Since I am going for both a chrome AND black look on the truck, the 'F', 'O', 'R', and 'D' would be chrome, and the rest of the grill would remain black.

1)

2)

Please vote in the poll, leave a comment, or better yet - both!

Sorry, I don't know why there was a double post of the pics...

I like the smaller version of the grille. Keep us updated on how you achieve this

Well that's different!

I think one thing that makes the Raptor grill work is that its large, but proportional inside the wider track/sheet metal. I'd have to wonder if a 'stock' Raptor grille might look way bigger in there, given the stock track width of the standard F150?

And how would you go smaller? Do you have some way of molding plastics like that? If so you might have a lot of interest from Raptor owners (I'm one) in making a blanked out version. Something like this (quick chop I did):

NICE!!!! I'd go with the smaller one, but would keep the raptor grill as is or pehaps a f-150 "stone grey" That's the dark metallic grey... for the letters.

I dont think the smaller one would work since the ford letters on the raptor grill go all the way to the headlights practically. You would somehow have to make an entirely new shrunken version if you wanted it to fit. Not saying it couldnt be done.

I want to do this too, but looking at it, it looks like there's going to be some fabrication going into it if you don't buy the Raptor hood. The gap between the top of the Raptor grill and the bottom of the outer chrome bezel of the XLT is going to be tough to fill in nicely.

However, if you were able to fill that in, it doesn't look too bad, Jason. Not as nice as your Raptor, but not too shabby.

PS. Nice halos. Where'd you get those?

I guess if you want to minimize the work, you can trim out the chrome, and then paint to match the Raptor grill:

Or paint body color:
