Those look good. Thanks a lot. Now I'm probably going to be $180 poorer. I'll wait until warm weather gets here before I get them though so I can coat them with something to keep the rust off.

I can easily hit it with a wire brush and some Krylon.
Brushing and sanding will be your best bet, then prime, paint, and lastly the rust protection. Just adding the rust protection over rust might not cure the problem, the spray creates a seal, just better to get rid of the rust first.

So, my Rampage Slimlines came in from AutoAnything today. Was very pumped to see them on my porch when I got home from work. I changed really quick and opened up the box. Everything looked GREAT! Had the right length bolts and everything! So I went to install... and thats where the mood swing comes in.. For some reason the bolts were a smudge bigger than the pre drilled holes in the pinch weld.. I couldn't get it to budge! Tried both sides, but to no avail. I even had my dad come over and get on one end pushing while I was on the other end. Granted, I didn't have a jack, so the maneuverability was minimal. Finally after sweating my *** off for half hour, I said F it! Called the Ford Dealership I bought it from, and they told me to come in Tuesday and they will put them on for $25.. fair enough.

One thing for you guys with these.. Was it hard to get the washers and nut on, due to the narrow gap between pinch weld and truck? I could barely get my fingers in there..

I've seen a few people report that the factory paint covered a bit of the pinch weld holes and they had to file them out slightly.

I didn't find it particularly hard to get the nut and washer tight with a deep socket. On a few of them I had to put just the nut on, tighten it to get the steps to flush up with the truck, then reinstall that one with a washer after the rest were on.

yea, that seems to be the problem. Ford dealership said they could drill it out to open it up more. I will let them deal with it. It was starting to stress me out, and the heat wasn't helping at all lol

I had that problem on the passenger side, just one hole needed to be drilled bigger. I used a metal drill bit, was super easy.

Yeah pretty much same with me. They all fit except one hole and just took a little drilling of the paint and it was good to go.

I was at my house, at school was the only problem. I don't have my drill here. It's back home. Ill let Ford deal with it. I am sore as hell this morning though! Those things were heavier than I thought!

Send me a PM with your order number. I would like to send this information to Rampage so they can troubleshoot this to avoid this from happening on
future orders.

Glad to hear you were able to have someone install them for you.

Thanks!!

PM sent!

And to clear any confusion, this isn't AutoAnything's fault, nor Rampage. The product was fine and perfect application. It's my pinch weld and narrowness of the hole (needs to be drilled out some) that made this process difficult!
